Love Elgin Day Challenge to Voluneteer and Serve Clients
Love Elgin Day RV Challenge for those to ‘shower’ – ‘clean up’ – ‘be transformed’
Registration is required for all volunteers. We need to know who’s coming and make sure you sign the waiver and connect to the right place!
Professional Volunteers
We are seeking professional volunteers in the following areas:
- Doctors, nurses, dentists, opticians or chiropractors who can offer a screening or other medical service
- Attorneys to answer legal questions and concerns
- Barbers, hair stylists, massage therapists, nail technicians
- Car mechanics,overview, maintenance
- Other professionals who think their skills might be a good fit for Love Elgin Day
We also have an area staffed by representatives from community organizations, both religious and secular, to give information on not-for-profit services they offer.

Support Team Volunteers
We will need Support Team volunteers to fill openings in many areas, including the following (click on a link for the job description):

- Guest Services
- Volunteer Sign-In
- Prayer Room Team
- Prayer on the Streets
- Clothing Services
- Lunch Service
- Bicycle Repair
- Set-up and Tear-down
Volunteer sign-in will be located on Division Street, between Center and Spring. That’s the first stop for all Support Team volunteers. In case of rain: inside First United Methodist Church (216 E. Highland Ave.).
We are also seeking servant volunteers for ALL SITES ON THE FRONT PAGE – Please sign up accordingly and let them know which campus site you would like to serve.

Registration Team
Greet and assist guests at the Registration Tent and answer questions about the day’s events. Help maintain an orderly crowd flow. As the front line making a first impression on our guests, this team particularly requires volunteers with evidence of the fruits of the Spirit (Eph. 5:22-23). Both English and Spanish speakers needed. Volunteers needed: 16.
Guest Services
Porters: Help carry Love Elgin Day guests’ food and clothing to their cars. Heavy lifting required. Volunteers needed: 40.
Crossing Guards: Assist people in safely crossing Center Street. Volunteers needed: 16.
Site Greeters: Welcome guests to a specific assigned area (clothing, food, professional services, etc.) and assist as needed. Volunteers needed: 20.
Volunteer Sign-In
Greet and register volunteers as they arrive for the day, provide nametags, and make sure liability waivers are signed. If needed, give directions for where they should report. Volunteers needed: 18.
Prayer Room Team
Join with others in the Body of Christ to cover the Love Elgin Day event in continuous prayer. Come pray individually or sign up your church prayer team! Shifts are hourly; feel free to sign up for one or more.
Love Elgin Day 11 NOTE: PRAYER AND INTERCESSION: First United Methodist Church Choir Room. Just down from the office area.
Prayer on the Streets
Join with others to pray for people outside on the streets. Shifts are an hour and a half; sign up for one or more.
Clothing Services
Help sort clothes before Love Elgin Day and/or assist guests and help keep the area straightened up at the event itself.
Lunch Service
Help prepare and serve lunch for guests and volunteers and help with clean-up. Volunteers needed: 27.
Bicycle Repair
Bicycle repair is a popular service at Love Elgin Day with as many as sixty bikes being repaired in a single day. Volunteers with some experience repairing bikes preferred. Volunteers needed: 12.
Set-up and Tear-down
Set-up involves unloading food trucks at 6 a.m. and helping set up any areas needing attention. Finish by 9 a.m. Tear-down involves arriving at 1:45 p.m. to help clean up, pick up and reset all rooms in each facility, as needed, from 2 p.m. until about 5 p.m. Volunteers needed: 80.
